The clamping elements of the optical fibre connecting device have a central channel with three sections. The first section receives the rod ends, the second section has a reduced dia. adapted to the dia. of a stripped optical fibre and the third section has a dia. adapted to the dia. of the sheathed optical fibre. The clamping elements can be designed as a setscrew surrounded by a protective sleeve. On its outer end there is tension relief for the optical fibres, the pressure element consisting of two O-rings separated by a spacer. A conical transition piece can be situated between the second and third channel sections.
