The inlet housing is intended for a centrifugal pump with through shaft. Between the pump inlet connection (2) and the impeller intake (8) a housing (4) is arranged which diverts the liquid flow in radial direction through 180 deg., and one or more equalisation chambers (3, 6) and guide vanes (5, 7) are arranged in this housing. There may be an equalisation chamber (6) in the region where the direction of flow reverses. There may be an annular equalisation chamber (3) in the entry area of the housing. The guide vanes may be arranged between the entry area (3) and the chamber (6) and between the chamber (6) and the impeller intake. The latter vanes (7) may be curved to act as inlet vanes.
