Tool assembly has baseplate with two parallel guide tubes for carriage with cutting wheel. The latter is lowered and lifted with a lever mechanism. The arrangement has stop profiles and adjustable lateral stop for holding tiles. Very narrow edge strips can be reliably and accurately cut. The lateral stop is of low weight and of relatively simple design. The side stop (19) slides on the end profile (16). This side stop can be locked and its broader side (23) and its angular side (20) form actual stop. This actual stop is situated on one side of the main profile (16) whose side faces the tile (17). A longitudinal slot (24) in the side of the side stop accommodates a fixing screw which is connected to the end of the head stop profile (16).
