Space transporter payload increasing system - uses container fitted into orbiting vehicle cargo hold and designed to allow independent re-entry and landing

The payload of a space transporter is increased using a container which is capable of independently re-entering the atmosphere and landing. The container is fitted into part of the Orbiter cargo hold. The container is cylindrical, being 5.8 m long, 1.6 m in dia. and having convex ends. One end includes a heat shield (9) and braking rocket (11), an adjoining ring (12) housing control jets (13). In the other end is a parachute pack (10), electronic control (14) and communication (15) equipment such as a directional transmitter.
