IC engine cylinder liner collar deformation - is eliminated by flat sealing ring with ribs on contact surfaces

Cylinder liner collar location on the casing of i/c engines, uses a ring as sealing component, e.g. a flat sealing ring (6) of rigid material is used, and is located between the liner collar (2) and the machine casing (4). On both face surfaces, the ring has several ribs (7). The liner itself (1) has a collar (2) which with the casing is normally subject to deformation under heavy load, and there are, under the same load conditions, micro-movements between the collar and its location. These are eliminated by the flat sealing ring (6) with ribbed (7) face surfaces.
