Cable twisting rotor roller protection - has a film of wetting fluid held on roller surface to prevent wear

To protect the plastic carrier rollers for the rotors of a cable twisting machine (to prevent wear from foreign material clinging to them), a film of wetting fluid is held on the running surfaces of the rollers. The wetting fluid is pref. driven by an air stream at an angle of 90 degrees in a spray against the roller surface, and against its rotation. The wetting fluid is pref. applied at a thickness of 2 mu m the pref. medium being an anti-static fluid such as transformer oil. The fluid film prevents the build-up of localised hot spots so that wear is prevented.
