Micellar dispersions for displacement of crude oil - contg. highly-branched surfactants and/or cosurfactants

Sec. extn. of crude oil is effected by injection of micellar oil/water dispersions contg. substantial amts. of (a) surfactant (I) and/or (b) co-surfactant (II) with strong branching in the aliphatic part of the molecule, excluding cpds. with CH2/CH3 ratio of =5 and alkyl aryl cpds. with aliphatic/aromatic proton ratio of 3 or 20. (I) is pref. a sulphated alcohol, sulphonated alkyl aromatic and/or alkyl phenol, (II) is pref. a 1-30(3-20)C alcohol, ester, aldehyde, ketone or phenol. Recovery of oil under otherwise identical conditions is increased.
