Gas washer with induced liquid entrainment - uses baffled sine wave passage between chambers in vessel

Gas washer with gas-liquid contracting has a housing with dirty gas inlet and clean gas outlet. This is internally partitioned into a dirty gas chamber and a clean gas chamber, with a passage between them. Below is a sump contg. the wash liquid which is open to both chambers. A sine wave shaped baffle is located just above the liquor surface and creates a sine wave shaped passage between the two chambers. A forced draught device such as a fan is provided to create a flow through the unit. A means is provided of controlling the liquor level at approx. the height of the lower edge of the outlet from the sine wave shaped passage while a gas flow is being pulled through the unit. Used in cleaning gas stream esp. contg. particulate solids. Appts. permits a higher loading than conventional equipment giving higher pressure drop but more efficient sepn.
