The roaster consists of a container which (1) is open at the top and contains a removable grille (8), and a lid (2). From the base of the container (1) extends an upward tapering shaft (4) which is open at the top and bottom and has several side openings near the base. The grille (8) is fixed between the side openings and the top opening (5) of the shaft. The lid possesses a section (3) in which heat is stored and reflected, positioned above the top opening (5), and curved outwards. A thrust piece (9) which locks the lid (2) in its closed position is released by a timer (16). The thrust piece (9) is in the form of a rod with transverse blade (14, 15) which acts in conjunction with a cog (14) of the timer.
