The process for coating or veneering wooden products (10) is esp. for preventing cracks from forming in veneer when bending over corners and edges. Before application a layer of veneer (11) is provided with a support layer (16) of considerable tensile strength and min. elasticity, at least in the bending direction. This is joined to the veneer layer to be undisplaceable in this direction. The veneer layer is laid on the wooden surface concerned with the support layer turned away from these, shaped to fit, and fixed in place. The support layer may be of diffusion-sealed material, and may be subsequently removed.
