Pipeline cleaner for oil cracking plant - directs jets of liquid onto pipe bore at pressure of 600 bars

The layer of coke (2) which forms in the bore of the pipe line (1) of an oil cracking plant can be removed by jets of liquid at a pressure of 500-600 bars. The jets are directed from nozzles (15) screwed into fittings (13) which are in turn screwed into the cylindrical body (3). The body (3) is supported by a tubular carrier (4) which has radial legs (5) forming part of guide bars (6). The high pressure fluid is supplied from a flexible hose to the central hole (11). The device is pushed along the pipe and cuts longitudinal grooves in the coke layer (2). It is then moved over the same area but with a rotary motion so that a screw thread is cut in the coke layer. The layer is thus broken up and washed away by the fluid.
