The circuit arrangement for triggering thyristors partic. used in inverters is designed for circuit simplicity and relatively small number of circuit components, the circuit being in general suitable for complete solution of requirements that in many respects are contradictory. A square-wave current generator (1) is provided and has the series-connected primaries (3) of at least two ignition transformers (2) connected to its terminals. The tertiary windings of the ignition transformers are connected to a.c. switches (6). The secondary windings of these ignition transformers are connected via half-wave rectifiers or full-wave rectifiers (7) to the gate electrodes and the cathodes of main thyristors, in each case.
