Textile web is printed with a pattern using a spray head with a number of spraying nozzles which are programme controlled as the spray head which is mounted on a carriage is traversed over a stationary web. On reaching its end position the web is indexed through the intermediary of its support, the head and its carriage are returned to the starting position and the spraying process is repeated. Other intermediate steps may take place whilst the web is indexed and carriage returned to starting position.
