The filter coffee make comprises a water container and an extraction chamber containing the tablet of roasted ground coffee, the two chambers being separated by a perforated wall to allow the water to press through. The coffee tablet is set at a distance above but parallel to the filter and to ensure that the tablet decomposes properly, the extraction chamber has a tablet support means which has a peripheral edge supporting the periphery of the tablet. A grid forming the underneath of the water container is located above the tablet and has cams or other suitable means for ensuring that the tablet cannot rise up.
