A combustible material for use in conventional solid-fuel burning installations at ordinary temps. and atmospheric pressure comprises particles (=30 mm) of elastomer material from which metal fragments have been removed. The material can be used alone or in combination with other solid fuels in industrial boilers, power stations, refuse incinerators, etc. When used with other fuels, the material has an anticaking action. The material has a higher calorific value than coal and causes less SO2 emission. The material is pref. produced from used tyres by grinding, fragmentation and metal sepn. The product is pref. a powder with a particle size of 3 mm, which can be fed into the fuel-burning installation by spraying or injection.
