Method of forming imitation straw seats - uses supporting threads woven in traditional patterns

The method replaces the traditional method of hand weaving material on a loom, such as a Jacquard (RTM), from a synthetic fibre which has the appearance of straw. The material can be produced in a continuous length with supporting threads woven in to reinforce and back it and is then cut to size, as required. After fixing in place, these threads may be removed. The threads are woven in traditional patterns, including square, overlapping, diagonal or spiral. These are repeated, as necessary. If preferred, the material can be stuck on to a backing cloth for extra strength.
