Sheets of high explosive containing between 75 and 92% of explosive of the group made up of hexogen, octogen and pentrite are manufactured by first making a paste of the explosive with a binding agent, e.g. natural or synthetic rubber. The paste is made into a rough slab, partially dried, then pressed to form an elementary layer which is completely dried. Several elementary layers are glued together, pressed to give the required thickness of the final sheet then drying and hardening is completed. The final multi-layer sheet of high explosive can be made from plates having the same or different compsns. and having the same or differing thickness. For producing flexible sheets of high explosive with high detonation speeds. The manufacturing method gives considerable flexibility and allows the production of multi-layer explosive sheets having detonation speeds higher than the mono-layer sheets.
