In a fault-current protection switch to save space in reducing the bulk of the switch, the primary windings of the current path are discontinued after passage through the transformer core and the first ends of the winding sections so formed are connected to the fixed contacts of the switch, and the free ends of the primary winding sections are taken to the connection terminals. The primary winding is divided into two sections (1a, 1b). One section (1a) passes the transformer core (3) and is connected at the breaking end with a fixed terminal (4a) of a switching component (5). The other section (1b) also passes the transformer core and is connected to the fixed terminal (4b).
