Coating substrate by forcing fluid through vent in inclined surface - so that fluid falls from surface as a curtain onto a substrate

A substrate is coated e.g. with a fluid plastic matl. by forcing the fluid through a transverse vent in an inclined surface so that the fluid flows down the surface and falls from its edge in the form of a curtain onto the substrate. At each side of the surface are provided guide plates extending perpendicularly to the fluid curtain to control the edges of the curtain as the fluid falls. The lateral guides control the fluid curtain, partic. as the curtain falls from the edge of the inclined surface thereby ensuring a more uniform curtain and a more uniform coating on the substrate.
