1495799 Burner gas supply control; controlling fuel supply automatically SAUNIER DUVAL 30 Oct 1975 [16 Dec 1974] 45064/75 Headings F4B and F4T [Also in Division G3] A sealed forced-draught heater comprising a burner 2 and an extruder fan 5 has a gas regulation system comprising a pneumatic valve 1 having a membrane 11 responsive to the pressure differential across the fan, and a further valve 41 for controlling the pressure differential applied to the membrane 11 as a function of the pressure of the gas to be supplied to the burner. When a solenoid valve (not shown) between the valve 1 and the heater is open and the fan 5 is operating at its minimum speed gas flows through orifices 36 in valve member 16 via chamber 17 to the burner. When the demand for heat increases, the speed of fan motor 28 increases, as does the pressure differential sensed by conduits 32, 33 and applied across the membrane 11, so that the valve 16 is further opened; this is opposed by spring 38 whose compression is adjusted by screw 35. It is also opposed by the pressure of the gas in chamber 17 acting on membrane 19, so that an equilibrium position of the valve 16 is eatablished. The pressure of the gas in conduit 8 acts via conduit 45 on membrane 43 to control the position of valve member 41 in conduit 40 which connects the conduits 32, 33. If the gas supply pressure is sufficiently high valve 41 will be fully closed and the full pressure differential across the fan will apply across the membrane; at a lower gas supply pressure the valve 41 will be opened, reducing the pressure differential applied across the membrane and thus compensating for the reduced pressure acting on the membrane 19, so that the equilibrium position of the valve member 16 is maintained.
