Cutter pick for mining machines - with shank forming forwards projecting edge in line with longitudinal pick cutting edge

The cutter pick for machines in mines, e.g. coal cutters coal ploughs and shearer loaders consists of a shank held in a pick box and fitted with an insert which forms a cutting tip of the pick. In the working position of the pick the front side of the shank forms a formwards projecting edge (18) in line with cutting edge (19) of the extended cutting tip (3) of the shank (2) insert. The cutting edge (19) of the cutting tip (3) projects in the longitudinal direction of the shank (2), and the forwards projecting edge (18) forms an extension of the cutting edge (19). The shank (2) has a quadratic section of which two adjoining sides form the forwards projecting edge (18).
