A junction providing impedance matching between rectangular and coaxial waveguides, is intended to operate over a band of frequencies and is variable between 10 ohms and 100 ohms. The coaxial guide enters the rectangular section at right angles to the short dimension of the guide such that the centre conductor (13) enters in line with this wall (12). The outer conductor (11) of the coaxial guide half overlaps the wide dimension, the non-overlapping half being integral with the wall (12). Both coaxial and rectangular guides have short circuit pistons for specific frequencies within the working bandwidth. The rectangular guide has an adjustable piston (31) varying the guide cross section in the vicinity of the coaxial guide entry point. The vertical circular guide (11) houses two cylindrical pistons (15, 16).
