Electrical sewing machine has a hollow thin-walled housing formed by an assembly of synthetic plastic mouldings. Pref., a large proportion of the moulding for the lower part of the horizontal arm of the machine, amounting to 10-50% of the total transverse section, is occupied by strutting reinforcing the rigidity of the arm. The reinforcement inside this lower side rises to a level above which the normal mechanism of the machine is secured to a metal plate fitted to the reinforcement. The device is very convenient to use. The use can rest her arm in comfort on the base in a clear space. The design reduces, as far as possible, the cost of the machine.
