High security Georgian style window - with steel outer frame and two wood covered steel inner opening frames

The window consists of an outer frame (1) which is made of steel sections and is attached to the masonry. Inside this outer frame are two opening inner frames (2, 3) which are hinged to the uprights of the outer frame. Each inner frame has a number of crosspieces (5) and uprights which are joined to the frame and are reinforced at all intersections. These are also made of steel, but are covered in wood giving the effect of Georgian windows. Panes of glass are inserted into slots in the wooden casing. The windows are held close by two rods (10, 11) operated by a handle. A lock (16) is provided on the inside face of the lower crosspiece (17) of the outer frame and this, combined with the steel slats on the windows themselves makes the windows burglar-proof.
