Solar energy collector for domestic heating - has series of inclined panels with intermediate reflectors and double glazed covers on south wall of building

Each panel has a double glazed cover (1) and several are placed above each other on the wall. An absorbent surface (11) runs behind all the panels and has a pipe coil (4) carrying water to be heated fixed to it. The panels are set at an angle to the vertical depending on the latitude of the installation. The space between the top of one and the bottom of the next is closed by a reflecting plate (2) which is perpendicular to the glass covers (1). It has glass wool insulation to the outside and an aluminium cover on the inside which prevents secondary loss by reflection. A control system diverts water through the collector or through an auxiliary boiler according to temperature conditions.
