If the supply is not solidly connected to the terminal of a high-tension apparatus in the hitherto usual way, but through a damping coupling, shock stresses on porcelain parts, caused by short-circuits, are absorbed. Thermal elongations are also compensated, resulting in higher functional reliability. The terminal (8) of an appliance such as an isolator is connected to the supply (11) through a coupling consisting of a plate insert (3) inside a bush (2). Four stacks of pre-stressed springs (4) are welded at one end to the insert and contact the bush at the other end. Copper strips (6) complete the connection. Pins (5) through the bush guide the insert in elongated holes. A split clamp (7) connects the bush (2) to the supply (11).
