Universal clock of globe type - has parallels and meridians inscribed on transparent surface and has markings for countries and cities

The universal clock in the form of a globe (10) supported by a socket (12) forming the base (14) of an axle (16) which fits into the globe along a polar diameter. The assembly enables the globe to rotate about the axle. The sphere is rigid but transparent, typically of organic glass. The surface of the globe is transcribed by twenty-three parallels (22) centred on the polar axis and subtending angles of 7 deg. 30' and also transcribed by twenty-four, eridiary (24) passing through the poles at angular spacings of 15 deg. The sphere is marked with the names of principal towns or countries to indicate the appropriate time zones.
