The stacking machine has a stacking conveyor belt or comprising a chassis supporting transverse rollers and a feed conveyor belt which are pivoted about a horizontal axis on a sliding rest which can be moved longitudinally along the framework of the machine. The panels are deposited in a pile at the end of the stacking conveyor belt. As the pile increases in height the sliding rest is moved backwards along the framework, and the stacking conveyor belt, which is fixed to an articulated mechanism also moves. The combined effect of the two movements is solely vertical movement of the extremity of the stacking conveyor belt.
