Elastic costal splint for thoracic surgery - has bent tooth ends in three pairs for fastening to ribs

The costal splint restores parietal costal strength after thoracic surgery. It is a strong elastic splint, having at the ends a fixing to the ribs, typically in the form of prebent teeth, pref. in three pairs. They can have engagement surfaces increasing in size from the ends of the splint. Bending of the teeth can be matched to the morphology of the ribs with which they engage. The teeth can have a low degree of elasticity, being weaker than the portion of the splint with which they engage, this being effected by making them thinner. Splint and fixing devices can be cut out from metal sheet of varying characteristics, being then coated by the portions forming the teeth.
