The tower, for pruning trees or picking fruit, comprises four working platforms mounted at the corners of a rectangular chassis to be adjustable in height. Each platform is rotatable about a shaft (8) fixed to a crank (9) itself pivoted to the chassis. Thus the spacing of the platforms can be varied to accommodate different tree row spacings. The cranks at one side are carried by tubes (4, 5) slidable on tubes (22, 5) by means of a ram (27) to adjust platform height. Each platform is releasably locked by a spring-loaded plunger to a disc on the shaft (8). The cranks are releasable locked by pins to a disc on the tube (22).
