Continuous flow water heater for domestic use - has single circulating pump in short circuit between flow and return for heating and hot water supplies

The continuous flow water heater has a water coil (1) heated by gas, oil or electricity. The water flows from the discharge (2) of the heater through a short circuit connection (15) to the inlet (3) of the heater. A circulating pump (16) is put in this connection. The outlet (17) of the pump has a branch (5) leading to a space heating circuit (10) with radiators (9) and the primary of a domestic hot water supply (12). These two are in parallel, with their returns (8, 11) taken to the pump inlet (15) through a three way valve (6) which gives priority to the hot water when necessary. The position of the pump in the short circuit connection enables one pump to serve both the heating and the hot water circuits.
