A read-write facility for magnetic data cards uses an endless belt with locating dogs to transport the card under the reading head. The transport system for the card has an endless belt (17) located on a free roller (18) at one end and a motor driven roller (19) at the other. The motor is bidirectional. Access to the belt is from either end of a console that allows cards to be dropped through a slit to be located between dogs (16) attached to the belt. Positive guidance (22) is provided in the region of the read-write head.
