The sanitary appliance constitutes a combined nozzle (12) emitting warm air and water, and mounted at the extremity of a dual flexible feed pipe (13) from a heater-blower unit (11). The nozzle is mounted on a handpiece and is partic. for use in cleansing and drying the anal areas in lieu of toilet paper. The heater-blower unit (11) with controls (17, 29) may be mounted on an external wall of a wc pan. The two feed pipes may be placed side by side in an outer tube (13) and the heater-blower may have water temp. controls. The latter controls may comprise an electric heater with a valve (17) controlling flow. The valve may have coarse and fine adjustment with the former effecting a final abrupt and relatively powerful water jet.
