Recovering acid and alkali from ion-exchange resin regeneration - using effluent for cooling water and crude water treatment

Recovery of a part of the residual effluent from the regeneration of ion-exchange resins in water-demineralising stations comprises using the acid effluent as topping up water in cooling circuits and the alkaline effluent as the softening alkaline soln in the pretreatment of crude water. The process paves space required for the neutralisation of the two effluents and acid and alkali inputs. The process provides a means of recovering at least 2/3rd of each of the effluents.
