Composite sheet material, partic. for wall coverings, furniture elements, seat coverings, etc., comprises several pre-cut elements, pref. of natural or reconstituted velvet or smooth leather, assembled by fixing to a common supporting sheet of rot-resistant material, pref. a sheet of polyester fibres and cotton agglomerated by a latex-base binder. The sheet material is mfd. by pre-assembling the precut elements, applying adhesive bands to their upper surfaces, then fixing them to the supporting sheet by adhesion, pref. by means of a heat-reactivatable adhesive e.g., a synthetic resin-base adhesive. The pref. material for the supporting sheet provides excellent sound and thermal insulation.
