Broadband windscreen aerial for motor vehicle - has central wire rod and aerial and border wire with S-shaped loops embedded in glass

The broadband windscreen radio aerial is fitted to motor vehicles. It consists of a central wire forming a vertical rod aerial(2) and a border wire(3) forming a frame-type aerial around the edge of the windscreen(1). The border wire has two arms and each arm has vertically- compressed S-shaped loops (7) along its bottom horizontal part. The length of an S-loop is equal to an odd multiple of the band centre wavelength. The two arms are symmetrical above the rod aerial. Alternatively the arms may extend right around the windscreen in which case the S-loops are asymmetric i.e. not mirror images about the rod aerial.
