Horizontal electrostatic precipitator for sulphur gases - has housing with sets of earthed and negative potential electrodes with decreasing mutual distances

The precipitator has a housing in which several sets of vertical separating partitions are fitted in flow direction dividing the housing into series of chambers (10, 11, 12, 13). The gaps between two adjacent vertical partitions are fitted with earthed electrode (15) and negative potential electrodes (31). The distance between the two sets of electrodes is determined by an empirical formula contg. the dust concentration of the gas and empirical exponents. This applies for the first chamber (10) in the housing. Each following chamber has the distance between the two sets of electrodes determined by taking the distance in the predecessing chamber and multiplying it by 0.7-0.8 so that the distance gradually decrease in downstream direction.
