Pilot control for self rotating projectile - has electrically operated impulse jets provided around circumference of projectile forward of centre of gravity

The piloting control for a self-rotating projectile consists of a multitude of small impulse jets which are fired in a determined sequence at a frequency which can be fixed or variable according to a programme or a servomechanism. The jets are mounted to the front of the centre of gravity (G) of the projectile and they can be grouped in rings or in a helix. The jets consist of rifle or pistol ammunition in which the bullet is replaced by a crumbling mass, such as calcinated iron fillings, which are braked by the air as they exit from the cartridge. The igniters for the jets are operated via electronic switches by a capacitor and a battery.
