A device for lifting tools on a tractor, comprises a lever (3) to which the tools are linked for lifting as the lever (3) is pivoted about a fixed pivot by extension of a rod (5) of a ram (6). The ram is supplied with pressure fluid by a compressor (15) only when the compressor (15) is permitted to engage a tractor-driven cam (18). The compressor head (16) is normally held down against its spring (17) by a fork (25) rigid with a fixed shaft (22). An arm (23) also rigid with the shaft (22) has a finger (24) engaged in a slot (21) in a link (20) on the rod (5), so that when the rod (5) is fully extended the fork (25) presses the head (16) away from the cam (18). Depression of the control lever (28) causes openingt of venting valve (31) and engagement of a stop (29) below the catch (26) on the shaft (22), to lower the tools. Raising the lever (28) releases the catch (26), to raise the tools.
