The appts. for the study of elastic and inelastic collisions to confirm the law of conservation of momentum includes two pendula of equal length holding at their base removable indices (4). These swing over spherical sectors which retain the indices extended by cooperation with the magnets (3). The magnets also retain the needles (4) which form the indices. The spherical sectors comprise a pair of fine meshes disposed closely adjacent, one above the other. Their spherical curvature is such that the needle index (4) engages in the mesh at the extremes of the oscillation of the pendulum displacement, which depends on its momentum.
