A cheese ripening net consists of a porous bag of synthetic material, fastened at its top side to a carrier plate with a hole corresponding to that of the net. The bag is woven from synthetic warp and weft threads with the weft lying loosely relatively to the warp threads. Between two successive intersecting points of a warp thread and a weft thread lying on it, the warp thread is at least in part lower than the plane limited by the upper surface of the weft thread. Each warp thread consists of two co-operating threads twisted around each other. A weft thread is inserted between two successive crossing points of the warp threads. The synthetic fabric is woven from thermoplastic matl., such as a polyolefin, pref. polypropylene or polyethylene. The fabric pref. has a mesh with an area 13-20 mm2. The carrier plate supports at least two cheese ripening bags. The net prevents formation of wet spots, improves the appearance of the cheeses and eliminates turning of the cheese on ripening boards.
