Orientated thermoplastic film laminate - produced by compressing between pressure rollers below lowest softening temp. of constituent films

A combination material is proudced from an orientated thermoplastic film laminate, using two or more non-orientated films with different moulding properties and orientating them together. The original laminate is passed through one or more pairs of pressure rollers whose temp. is below the lowest softening point of the constituent films, so as to reduce the laminate to less than two-thirds of its original thickness and to improve its transparency. Process eliminates delamination or clouding, produces good stiffness of laminates and good imperviousness to oxygen if one constituent film has good gas-tightness, suitable films are e.g. low density polyethylene, PVC.
