The discharge valve mounted at the lowest point of the side of a storage tank, has a flanged collar (20) forming a valve seat, clamped by screws (24) between a boss (4) on the outside of the tank (3) and a flange (32) of a body (1) through which the valve spindle (14) passes. A circular disc upper valve member (17) on the upper end of the spindle can be pulled down against the inside face of the collar. This is held down by a spring (53) inside a housing (56) inside the tank. A lower valve member (10) further down the spindle is raised and lowered from a seating formed inside the flanged end (32) of the body, to control flow through a sloping branch tube (38) integral with the spindle housing, forming an outlet discharging downwards below the tanks.
