A rotary milking machine has an annular track continuously rotated at a variable speed. There is a ramp at the inner edge which receives the milking mechanism which is connected by conduits to a central parr through which the milk is passed. The outer side contains vertically aligned doors (11) supported at the bottom by rollers running on a fixed track (15) and by radial members (23). At an entry/exit station for the ewes a roller (25) releases a latch allowing the door to swing down below the level of the track (1) on the track (15) which dips at this station.
