The radar system is provided with a variable frequency signal processing circuit. The variable frequency signal is a replica of a signal received by a frequency modulated radar. The frequency modulating waveform is triangular. The processing circuit includes a signal analysing generator which produces from the radar synchronising signal and from a frequency control signal a triangular shaped analysing signal. The triangular signal is phase modulated to the rhythm of the variable frequency and the modulation carrier signal. A form shaping circuit (12) is also used to make the analysing signal sinusoidal. An equalising signal function generator (14) produces an equalising signal whose frequency is double that of the modulation signal. An equalising circuit (13) balances the output of the wave shaping (12) circuit with the equalising signal.
