The support holds the column of a rotary crane mounted on a vehicle, the controls being operated by an hydraulic system. The oil for the hydraulic circuits is contained in a tank on the vehicle body. The column has upper and lower bearings, these being located inside the oil tank, with the column of the crane passing through a seal on the tank top. The bearing surfaces can be spaced well apart for rigidity and operate under good lubrication conditions. Equally, the column rotary drive is also placed inside the tank, the gear being positioned between the two bearing surfaces.
