A microfiche reader is used to read or examine the frames of the fiche. Each frame can be examined in sequence without readjustment of the reader. The microfiche reader consists of a flat transparent plate (P), the microfiche (F) to be read, a frame (T) of boxes, and a set of cylindrical lenses (L). The whole assembly (P, F, T, L) is placed over a light source. The boxes of the frames (T) are lined up with the frames of the fiche (F). The box frame (T) prevents any cross-reading of adjacent frames of the fische (F). The box frame (T) may be part of an existing reader. It may also be integral with the set of lenses (L).
