A continuous input process e.g. numerically controlled machine tool system, utilises additional information contained in a secondary memory relating to characteristics dependent upon temperature, pressure, etc. The system operates with a magnetic programme card (1) containing basic information about the variation in the continuous path variable (7). Additional information relates to switching functions e.g. motors, valves, etc. The reverse side of the card has a magnetic strip reserved for adaptive data received from an auxiliary RAM (9). This data varies the cycle dependent upon external parameters.
