device for external or internal chamfering the edges of a hollow glass or similar article which is first flattened perpendicularly to its axis, comprises =1 tool which can be applied under a predetermined and controllable "elastic" pressure against the edge of the glass when the glass is rotated about its axis with the axis vertical. The whole of the surface of the grinding tool is used unlike in prior art. when abrasive strips became locally worn and required frequent replacement. Inaccuracies in the glass shape are accommodated.
