The sailing boat is of simple design with an elongate hull and is primarily intended for sport e.g. racing. The hull includes an assembly for fixing the mast, which supports the sail, to the boat. The cross-section of the central portion of the boat perpendicular to its length is in the form of an isosceles triangle having the narrower angle opposite the assembly for attaching the mast. The mast attaching assembly may permit limited free longitudinal direction with respect to the hull. Preferably the mast may through an angle of 30 deg.-45 deg. from the vertical.
